Football, Family & Fun

Here are a couple things I like:

  • Bringing customers’ favorite furniture back to life
  • Football and Everything about it.

Recently, I got a chance to combine the two.

That chance came through my friend Ed, an old (and I mean old) football coach. He grew up in Kremmling, which is near Steamboat. That’s a part of the Rockies I visited a lot with my family when I was a kid.Ed and I were talking about Kremmling, and he mentioned that his family used to own the Hotel Eastin up there.

A couple years ago, going through a storage shed at the hotel, he found two wonderful old handcrafted chairs. They’d seen better days, but they’d been around for three generations. He asked if these were the chairs that used to be in the lobby when he was a kid.

“Yep, that’s them. Ya want ‘em?”

“Hell yeah!”

Soon after, he delivered them to my Surgery Room for Damn-near Dead Chairs.

We stripped them down, cleaned them up, refoamed them and chose a fabric that fit Coach Ed: recast leather with a pigskin football finish.

The chairs came back to life. Now they’re perfect for fun, family and watching football.

And this job was perfect for me. I got to restore a Kremmling family heirloom and get it back into active use by the next generation of football junkies. Nothin’ better.
